Guitars With Stars

As I mentioned before, the posts will try to adhere to the format of one classic track and one new track. This time around its easy: the classic is Star Guitar by the Chemical Brothers and the new one is Star Guitar covered by Shinichi Osawa. The original is a classic big room banger with a sweet vocal sample that makes you want to take drugs and have girls whisper cute shit into your ear (check out the video too, its directed by Michel Gondry). The Shinichi Osawa remix follows a similar path, but sounds more contemporary with its bloggy overtones and electro aesthetic.

Well it feels like the world is ending down here in southern California because of all the wildfires, but, the music must go on!!! This one was posted a few weeks back on the iheartcomix blog, but it seems like it could use a little more attention south of LA. I'm definately gonna cain this one at Club Pop Noir this Friday so come out in your best costume and win the contest. Anyway, Matt & Kim are always a fun band, and new production duo The Risk do some fresh dancefloor damage to a popular track. The result is this sweetness:

Now its time for a classic. This track was massive for German minimalists and trance-weary clubbers in 2003. Its not really electro but its a beautiful piece of techno history. The non stop edits will keep your A.D.D. in check and the melodies are undeniably relaxing. The producer, James Holden runs the Border Community label, who have released a number of records on par with this over the years. Be sure to explore Border Community's other stuff here.
